Volunteer Trail Building Workshop, Sunday, August 30, 2015 – Co-hosted by REI  + Commonweal Conservancy

Volunteers will put the finishing touches on the new 2-mile multi-use trail during a special trail building workshop, co-hosted by REI and Commonweal on August 30, 2015. Snacks, t-shirts and raffle prizes will be shared with participants to reward their stewardship service.  The volunteer trail building workshop will be launched from the Cowboy Shack Trailhead at the Galisteo Basin Preserve. From the Preserve entrance at U.S. Highway 285, follow the red flags to the trailhead.

Schedule: We will meet at 8:30 am at the trailhead. After a brief orientation, volunteers will head out to practice their trail building skills. After enjoying lunch on the trail, volunteers will complete their work by 1:30 pm.

Food + Supplies:  Commonweal will provide light snacks, water and all necessary trail-finishing tools. The Trails Alliance of Santa Fe and the Fat Tire Society have generously donated use of their tools for this event.

Work Requirements and Cautions:  Trail building is a moderately strenuous activity.  Please wear pants, long-sleeve shirt, hat and heavy work boots.

Bring:  A sack lunch, sunscreen, water bottle and work gloves.
