Title: Trail Building at Galisteo Basin Preserve
Location: Cottonwood Trailhead, Commonweal Conservancy
Description: Volunteer Trail Building Event at the Galisteo Basin Preserve, co-sponsored by REI in celebration of National Public Lands Days. Volunteers will be helping put the finishing touches on two new hiking/mountain biking trails totally 3.74 miles. Volunteers will meet at the Cottonwood Trailhead. Volunteers should bring work gloves, hat, water, sunscreen and wear closed toe, heavy work boots. Volunteers will receive a free REI Get Dirty tee-shirt. Snacks will be provided and participants can register for raffle prizes.

The Galisteo Basin Preserve is accessible from U.S. Highway 285 south of Eldorado. The Preserve entry is located approximately 6.5 miles south of the I-25/US 285 intersection. Please be mindful that it takes 20-25 minutes to drive to the Preserve entrance from Santa Fe. To get to the Cottonwood Trailhead, please follow Astral Valley Road to the intersection with Thornton Ranch Road. Take a left on Thornton Ranch Road. Follow Thornton Ranch Road for approximately 2.25 miles. The route will marked with red flags. The Cottonwood Trailhead will be on your right. Since parking will be limited, please car pool as much as possible.
