Located in an area with over 1,000 years of mining history Cerrillos Hills State Park is home to mines worked by a variety of cultures. Native, Spanish and Territorial miners found turquoise, galena, silver, copper, iron, manganese, zinc and other semi-precious ores here. Over five miles of trails take you past historic mine sites that tell the story of how the little hills played a giant role in the settlement of New Mexico.
