Maintenance work to address erosion issues on La Tierra Trails. We will meet at “Junction 22” at the small trailhead parking lot on Chili Line Rd. (the short Relief Route frontage road on the way to the motorcross zone). This is not an easy spot to find, if you have not been there – if you need help, see Junction 22 on the City’s La Tierra Trails Map, or give us a call for directions.
Among other efforts, we will be filling in a massive arroyo cut at the start of the “whoop-dee-doo’s” east of Junction 20. Afterwards we may take a look at the remains of the old Chili Line railbed and consider the possibilities for preservation and restoration of this historic resource by volunteers in 2016. (If you are interested in historic rail lines and trails, check out the presentation at the “Building Creative Communities Conference” earlier this month at http://www.sfct.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Rail-Trails-as-Creative-Heritage-Trails.pdf.)

One more volunteer work day to address erosion issues in La Tierra Trails. We will meet at Frijoles Trailhead on Camino de los Montoyas and focus on mitigating and filling in a couple of sharp gullies on the wide gravel trail.
Possibly we can re-visit single-track where we worked in August between Junctions 26 and 29. I will also head out and pick up some miscellaneous items left along the trails to the north while we are at it.
