La Tierra Trails Flow Trail Clean-Up @ La Tierra Trails, Frijoles Trailhead
May 3 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Help Santa Fe Fat Tire Society work on the first professionally designed and constructed purpose built mountain bike trail in the Santa Fe area.  Tools will be provided, but please bring gloves and wear sturdy shoes and long pants.  Come prepared for the weather with appropriate clothing, sunscreen, hats, plenty of water and food for a 4-6 hour work day. Join us at the Frijoles trail head at 9am to take part in the workday.

We will continue to punch in a re-route started last year on the Winsor Trail.

Let me know if you’d like to attend any of these. I’ll provide directions and any important information.

Please bring a daypack with lunch, plenty of water, sunscreen, etc. As always please wear long pants, long sleeves, above-ankle (non-skid) boots, leather gloves, and a smile. I’ll provide hard hats (new color has arrived), safety glasses, and tools.

Participants will need to have the ability to hike a short distance and negotiate uneven, rocky terrain. Due to the undeveloped nature of the open space and associated hazards, participants will be asked to sign an Acknowledgement of Risk and Release of Liability.

Galisteo Basin Preserve- Improvements to the Trail Network @ Cowboy Shack

Volunteers will head out to evaluate and fix identified drainage issues on the existing trail network. After enjoying lunch on the trail, volunteers will complete their work by 1:30 pm.

Food + Supplies: Commonweal will provide light snacks, water and all necessary trail-finishing tools. The Trails Alliance of Santa Fe and the Fat Tire Society have generously donated use of their tools for these events.

Work Requirements and Cautions: Trail building is a moderately strenuous activity. Please wear pants, long-sleeve shirt, hat and heavy work boots.

Bring: A sack lunch, sunscreen, water bottle and work gloves.

Cactus and Succulent Society of New Mexico Educational Hike @ Arroyo Hondo Open Space Upper Parking lot

This hike will with some luck coincide with bloom times of many of the cactus varieties along the trail. Your guides will identify and provide fun facts about the variety of cactus species found in the Arroyo Hondo Open Space.

Easy hike.

Approximately 1.5 miles.

400 feet elevation.

Arroyo Hondo – Upper Parking Area located at the end of Old Agua Fria Rd. From the Old Pecos Trail (OPT) exit of I-25 drive, drive South until OPT dead ends at the stop sign at Old Agua Fria Road East. Turn left onto Old Agua Fria Rd. E, drive over cattle-guard where dirt turns into pavement, parking is 200 yards on the right.
