The City and County of Santa Fe in partnership with Keep Santa Fe Beautiful are celebrating our new trailhead signs for the Dale Ball Trails. Everyone is invited to join us as we cut the ribbon for the new information signs and enjoy a short hike.
The Atalaya trailhead AKA “St John’s trailhead” is on the very east side of St John’s college.
Refreshments are provided!
Dale Ball Remembrance and Community Hike on National Trails Day
Come celebrate and enjoy the legacy of Dale Ball. After refreshments, some reflection on the value of trails and open space in and around Santa Fe, and an update on great things to come in Dale Ball Trails and elsewhere in the area, we will take a small hike on the north section of Dale Ball Trails toward the La Piedra Trail. We hope you can join us!
The northernmost part of the connection is complete, so lifting of heavy boulders is behind us now.
Join us as continue work to connect Dale Ball Trails Central and South near Cerro Gordo Trailhead, at the corner of Upper Canyon Rd. and Cerro Gordo Rd. We have done most of the heavy rock work already and will now focus on building the southern part of the connection.

Bring work boots, long pants/shirt sleeves, sun protection, snacks, and water.

La Piedra Workday – Contact Carol if you plan on attending. She will give you info on where to meet. Tools are provided. Please come dressed for the weather, long pants, long sleeves, work gloves and ankle covered boots. Please bring plenty of water and sunscreen.
